Faculty of Law (Jurisprudence) in University of Oxford

Much of St Anne’s undergraduate teaching is provided within the College, drawing on the diverse teaching capacity of our resident Fellows.

Dr Liora Lazarus provides teaching in the areas of Criminology, Human Rights, Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, while Professor Stefan Talmon lends his experience in the field of International Law to teaching in European Community Law and Public International Law. Dr Imogen Goold specializes in areas of Jurisprudence, Tort, Contract and Trade Marks, as well as Medical Law and Bioethics.

For other areas of teaching, our students attend tutorials with experts from other colleges and with the Department. St Anne’s also has probably one of the best college libraries for law (including all English law reports and the European Court Reports), with a special budget for law graduates.

St Anne’s has a strong and vibrant student community in law, with students enrolled in the BA in Jurisprudence (both the three-year Course I and the four-year Course II), the BCL/MJur and others preparing their dissertation for the DPhil, the MPhil in Law or Criminology, and the MSt in Legal Research. We also welcome several visiting students every year.

Travel grants have assisted our law graduates to do internships at the United Nations in New York and the World Health Organization in Geneva and to participate in international conferences.

Many of our foreign graduates work for one of the international law firms, tax and management consultancies in London before returning to their home countries to take up positions in government, law firms, consultancies or academia.

St Anne’s also has an excellent reputation for producing graduates with strong employment prospects in the legal sector, with almost all of our law undergraduates being awarded training contracts with London-based law firms. --- READ MORE
